Week 3 Baseball Rankings

The top ten takes into considerations a team's overall record, strength of schedule and the team's long term postseason potential.

1. Bishop Kenny (6-0)

Previous ranking: No. 1

Last week: Went 2-0 with wins over Stanton, Bartram Trail

Key wins: Stanton, Bartram Trail

Key losses: None

This week: at Nease (Mar 11), STAB (Mar 13), Buchholz (Mar 14)

Comment: Kenny continues to roll along picking up a pair of wins over solid clubs Stantona and Bartram Trail.


2. Providence (8-1)

Previous ranking: No. 3

Last week: Went 3-1 at LaGrange Toyota Invitational

Key wins: Bolles, Episcopal, Cartersville (Ga), Hillcrest (Al.), LaGrange (Ga)

Key losses: Columbus (Ga)

This week: STAB (Mar 10), UC (Mar 13)

Comment: Providence traveled to LaGrange, Ga to face some of the best teams in the Southeast, going 3-1, finishing second, losing to Columbus, Ga in the title game.


3. Eagle's View (6-2)

Previous ranking: No. 2

Last week: Went 2-2 at LaGrange Toyota Invitational

Key wins: ACD, Palatka, Niceville, Hillcrest (Al)

Key losses: Columbus (Ga), East Paulding (Ga)

This week: St. Francis (Mar 12)

Comment: Eagle's View travled to LaGrange, Ga to face some of the top teams in the Southeast, going 2-2, finishing fifth.


4. Bolles (6-1)

Previous ranking: No. 4

Last week: Went 3-0 with wins over Creekside, West Nassau, Bishop Snyder

Key wins: Palatka, Creekside

Key losses: Providence

This week: Fernandina Beach (Mar 10), at Episcopal (Mar 13)

Comment: Bolles rolls with three more wins including a big win over 4A Creekside along with two more district wins.


5. Episcopal (7-1)

Previous ranking: No. 7

Last week: Went 3-0 with wins over Ponte Vedra, ACD, Yulee

Key wins: Parker, Bartram Trail, Wolfson, ACD, Yulee

Key losses: Providence

This week: West Nassau (Mar 10), Bolles (Mar 13)

Comment: Episcopal moves up the rankings two spots with solid wins over ACD and Yulee.


6. Wolfson (5-2)

Previous ranking: No. 8

Last week: Went 2-0 with wins over Lee, Parker

Key wins: Parker, ACD,

Key losses: Episcopal

This week: at Paxon (Mar 10), Sandalwood (Mar 12)

Comment: Wolfson has bounced back since difficult first few weeks, in which the Wolfpack saw their coach fired for giving them creatine followed by going 1-2 at their own tournament.


7. Parker (5-2)

Previous ranking: No. 9

Last week: Went 1-1 knocking off Fletcher, losing to Wolfson

Key wins: Mandarin, Fletcher

Key losses: Episcopal, Wolfson

This week: at First Coast (Mar 11), Englewood (Mar 13)

Comment: Braves split on the week knocking out Fletcher before falling to district rival Wolfson.


8. Baker County (7-0)

Previous ranking: Not ranked

Last week: Went 2-0 with wins over Ribault, Suwannee

Key wins: Fernandina Beach

Key losses: None

This week: Ridgeview (Mar 10), at Santa Fe (Mar 13), Bradford (Mar 14)

Comment: Baker County has quietly moved through the season unnoticed but moves into the rankings after impressive win over Suwannee.


9. Middleburg (6-2)

Previous ranking: Not ranked

Last week: Went 3-0 with wins over Suwannee, Bradford, Godby

Key wins: Keystone Heights, Suwannee, Godby

Key losses: Baker County, St. Augustine

This week: at Keystone Heights (Mar 10), Orange Park (Mar 13)

Comment: Like Baker County, Middleburg has gone unnoticed but moves into the rankings finally after going on the road and beating Suwannee and Tallahassee Godby.


10. Fernandina Beach (5-3)

Previous ranking: No. 6

Last week: Went 1-2, win over Trinity Christian

Key wins: Fleming Island

Key losses: Baker County, Winter Haven, Lake Wales

This week: at Bolles (Mar 10), Yulee (Mar 13)

Comment: Fernandina Beach stays in the poll despite two consecutive losses, after traveling to Polk County to play two solid playoff teams Winter Haven and Lake Wales.


Dropped out: No. 5 Stanton (4-3), No. 10 Mandarin (5-4)

Honorable Mention: Columbia (5-2), Stanton (4-3), Mandarin (5-4), Fletcher (4-3), St. Augustine (6-2), Creekside (6-1), Keystone Heights (4-3), Palatka (2-4), Paxon (6-3), Sandalwood (5-3), ACD (5-3), Yulee (5-3), Fleming Island (3-4), Jackson (5-2)
